Z Wraps FAQ
What’s a Z Wrap?
A Z Wrap is a beautiful, reusable beeswax food wrap. It’s the sustainable, environmentally friendly alternative to plastic. You can use it to keep your bread, sandwiches, snacks, veggies and hard cheeses fresher, for longer.
How do I wash my Z Wrap?
Wash your Z Wrap in cool water with a mild dish soap and a sponge or cloth. Leave it to air dry. Hot water will melt the wax on the wrap. And be sure not to wring it out. Here’s one washing trick: lay your Z Wrap on a cutting board in the sink to make cleaning easier.
Check out the video below to see how!
How do I use my Z Wrap?
Wrap your Z Wrap around food or over a dish. And let the warmth of your hands do all the work. The Z Wrap cools quickly and will hold its seal or stick to a bowl. It’s best to use a Z Wrap that’s bigger than the item you’re wrapping. While a medium one should be sufficient for a sandwich or a small amount of fresh herbs, a large bowl will work best with a wrap that falls at least half way down from the top.
Why is my Z Wrap sticky?
If it’s sticky, that’s a good sign! It means your Z Wrap is ready to do its job – seal around your food. They are designed that way so they can wrap tightly around food or a dish, with the warmth of your hands. What can I use it for?
Use your Z Wrap to wrap hard cheeses, fruit, vegetables, bread, fresh herbs, and baked goods. You can also use it to cover leftovers in bowls and baking dishes. We do not recommend using your Z Wrap to wrap raw meat or eggs. How long will my Z Wrap last?
Your Z Wraps should last up to 18 months, depending on how much you use them and how well you care for them. Make sure they do not come into contact with hot water or hot surfaces or the wax will melt and they won’t last as long. What’s the best way to store my Z Wraps?
We like to roll up our Z Wraps and store them in a basket. You can also store them flat, inside a kitchen drawer or on a shelf. We recommend keeping them in a cool, dry place.I can’t get my Z Wrap to stick. What do I do?
The warmth of your hands should help make the Z Wrap pliable enough to wrap around an object and stick to itself. If your Z Wrap isn’t sticking, make sure your hands are warm enough. Z Wraps should wrap tightly around fruit, vegetables, herbs, breads and cheeses. They will stick nicely to metal, glass and wood. But they don’t always stick to plastic, for example. If for some reason you can’t get your Z Wrap to stick, even with warm hands, please email or call us.My wrap is too hard and won’t wrap around my food. What should I do?
It sounds like your Z Wrap got too cold. The best thing to do is massage it with warm hands. If you can’t make your Z Wrap malleable, even with warm hands, please email or call us.Can I use my Z Wrap in the freezer?
Yes! When you’re ready to use the frozen food, leave it out on the kitchen counter to warm it up before opening.
My Z Wrap has marks and creases on it. Is there anything I can do to remove them?
Yes! Place your Z wrap on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and heat it in the oven at 170 degrees F with the oven door open for 1-2 minutes. And voila, your Z Wrap will come back to life! All of the creases will melt down and disappear. Remove from the oven, take it off of the parchment and hold it up. One minute later, it will dry and be ready to use again.
Where does Z Wraps ship to?
We would be happy to ship your Z Wraps anywhere you are!
What is a Z Wrap made of?
Z Wraps are handcrafted with 100% cotton fabrics in signature designs, as well as organic beeswax, organic jojoba oil, and tree resin.
Why do you use beeswax?
Beeswax is a natural wax made by a certain type of honey bees. It has antifungal and antibacterial properties that help keep your food fresh and clean. Beeswax is both waterproof and breathable, so it protects your food from getting wet at the same time as keeping in moisture. In short, it helps keep your food fresher for longer.
What about jojoba oil and tree resin?
Like beeswax, jojoba oil is antimicrobial. Tree resin helps your Z Wrap stick to itself and to other vessels.
